2. The Vienna Phil and State Opera Orchestra are just as sexist as when they didn't allow women to join. My favourite quote from this article comes from Dieter Flury, who is the business director of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra:

Can you just smell the patriarchal privilege and entitlementitis? If I think about this quote for too long, I can feel my head start to implode at the logic. It's like, you expect the patriarchy to be a bit more insidious, but, instead you have this white guy waving his penis in your face and you can't believe he's being that obvious.

I hope that Stephen Harper's not very proud of introducing a flashy political bill that would have done nothing (much like the whole Québec as nation thing) and, more importantly, could have led to a Canadian government reintroducing inequality among the country's citizens, but I don't give the man that much credit. Thank goodness most parliamentarians have more common sense than the current PM. Here's hoping that under Dion the Liberals can get it together and force an election soon. I can't handle much more of Bush light. He may have single-handedly made Canadian women equal with a flourish of white-out, but I'd still like to see him gone. I guess I'm a (sarcastic) ingrate.

Lunacy

I saw Jan Švankmajer's latest film and, call me a feminist dyke (Feminist dyke!), but it left me asking one question: Why does complete freedom still look like the patriarchy?

I will grant Švankmajer's animated meat the props they deserve: Mad props to you, animated meat, yo!
