2006 2007

I'm always disappointed after returning home from a trip. There are always little interior changes to me: new memories, new experiences, new realisations. The landscape/cityscape/mallscape around me should change with me, but it's always static. Even though I expect some pathetic fallacy in my life, there never is any. Last night, the airport looked the same way it had when we left ten days ago. The primary difference between ten days ago and last night is that last night, Ptichka and I had an opportunity to admire the airport (and use the washroom). Ten days ago, we had the opportunity to make a mad dash for the gate (busy airport day + bad weather = great difficulties in actually arriving at the airport). I hope that it's a while before I get to experience either the annoyance-anger-worry waiting contiuum or running in any airport.

And to remind me that nothing much has changed here, we went from glorious, sunny, snowy weather to overcast drizzle, there was the same kitty mayhem at my front door this morning, and my landlord just turned off the water for the house after exclaiming to himself: "Shit!" while looking at the hot water tank. More crap Toronto weather, more cats, and more water problems. More of 2006, I suppose.

At least I feel different.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Happy posts with pictures to appear in the following days.

There's nothing below the fold.
