Tagged by Amy and not really wanting to contemplate any longer the amount of work involved in editing my dissertation, I am going to do the five-things meme.

Now I should probably accomplish something for the day. I registered for a class called How to Become a Better Editor of Your Own Work, which began today, and am thoroughly discouraged because, well, the only way to become a better editor of your own work is to roll up your sleeves and work. At this stage in the dissertation I. am. tired. and I don't know how to get the spark back. What do you all do when you're sick to death of something but can't walk away from it? Or is it really just a matter of being a trooper?

There's nothing below the fold.

When something I enjoy becomes lackluster I head back to the beginning. The source. I go back to the one thing that got me interested in the first place. There's a reason you're writing this dissertation and there's a point in your life that started the journey. A book you read perhaps? Go read it again.
Of course, I just wrote a post about a portrait that I have absolutely no intentions of finishing simply because I've lost interest, so it's possible that I have no fucking clue what I'm talking about.

War and Peace here I come! Well, maybe I'll reread The White Guard instead.

I'm also looking forward to the fact that my advisor is returning from Berlin later this week. I've realized that isolation just kills me. And here I thought I was a misanthrope. Hmph.
