When I do take the subway to campus, I stand on the platform and stare at a series of ads for Yorkd@le Mall featuring the latest in spring and summer fashions. I'm going to ignore the fact that the actual poses are sexist: the men are all action packed and the women look as though they're being blown away by heaven only knows what (two of the poses are on the mall's homepage here. Refresh your browser to see both), because I want to ask: what is up with the shoes? Why ruin an otherwise cute outfit with those horrible horrible shoes. According to the website, ugly shoes are in this season. I really think that all future fashion trends should be put to a vote by the people who are actually going to have to shell out money to wear this stuff because I'm pretty certain that women would have told the predominantly male cabal of desingers to take their ugly shoes and shove them.
