Math Is Easy. Drawing Is Hard

It's the end of term, the end of a chapter, and the beginning of some paperwork, which means that I don't have much time.

I did, however, have time to spend drawing a European robin. It took me two evenings. I'm hoping that this stuff gets easier (and faster) soon because right now, it takes forever. I was smart and did a loose outline drawing first to prevent me from drawing myself right off the paper. Progress? I'll take it.

Très beau, mon ami!
Coloured pencils? Pastels?
If only I had always done loose outlines first...I'd have walls covered in art, and less in my trash can.

Merci, mon amie!

Coloured pencils. I'm figuring my way around those too.

Those loose outlines are handy, aren't they? The tail's still a bit short but, oh well, I beat my inner perfectionist into submission this morning, so I'm happy with the bird because it still represents progress.
