I just sent my final chapter to my advisor. That's correct. I have a complete first draft. Intro and six chapters.

My mind is going a mile a minute right now. There's so much to do. There are topics that I need to cover more adequately. Thank goodness I get another crack at the diss, then. Yes?

I've also noticed that my English-language skills are lacking. While it has been a joy to be the first person to write about most of the topics I cover in the diss because I never had to worry about getting bogged down in secondary sources, it also means that I haven't been reading much in English. My academic writing is filtered through Russian and Czech. You have only begun to imagine what a nightmare that is.

So, I'm on the hunt. I'm looking for monographs with mass appeal. Preferably dealing with literature, comparative literature, art history, cultural studies, or history. Ideally they'd be well-written, clear, and concise. My current to read list includes Svetlana Boym and Linda Hutcheon. Any other suggestions? I'll send you a pdf of my diss when it's done.

I'm taking the rest of the day and tomorrow off, well except for the obligatory fifteen minutes' worth of work that I do every day. Hopefully there will some new ATCs to show you.

There's nothing below the fold.

Thank you! We had lamb for dinner and went for a nice, long walk. I'm drinking heavily on Thursday, which I'm also taking off. New ATCs! Yeah!
